Congratulations to Forest Hills/South Florida, the winner of the Cal Ripken 12U Southeast Regional Tournament. The level of play this year was very strong and their prevailing over so many good teams is an impressive accomplishment, and we wish them luck as they advance. Congratulations are also in order to two other groups.
First, the Buckhead Baseball community is indebted to our volunteers, including Tournament Director Tommy Duffy, for his outstanding leadership getting our park and league prepared to host our guests at the 12U Ripken Regionals; Guy Fulwiler, for his tireless work at the field to make sure all the details were handled and our guests had a great time; Michael DeGolian, for lining up scorers, PA announcers, etc.; Jim Loyd, for his excellent field work; veterans like Corey Richardson, Joel Murphy, Walton Lee and others for the great webcasts; there are so many others and while we are likely to omit someone, thanks to everyone who contributed so much over the past weeks and months to make this tournament successful.
Finally, our hats are off to the graduating group of 12 year old all stars, the Buckhead Braves. Led by Matthew Woods, Charles Guthrie and Pierce Lowery (thanks guys!), this group of boys had a terrific summer as they ended their stellar careers at Buckhead. Their exciting run in the Regionals on our home field in front of so many parents and fans was something special. They certainly made us proud of how they played the game so well, and always with sportsmanship and class. Our appreciation and best wishes for continued success to the 2009 12U Buckhead Braves - Deen Brooks, Mac Budd, Hunter Davis, Robert DeGolian, Tommy Duffy, Jake Fulwiler, Will Geraghty, John Livaditis, Nathan Offutt, Alex O'Shaughnessey and Robert Winborne.
