ATLANTA- Buckhead Baseball and Metro Atlanta YMCA Braves Baseball Academy are pleased to announce a newly-formed partnership designed to unite different communities through the common passion for the game of baseball. The two leagues intend to collaborate on the goals of:
– Developing and strengthening youth baseball in Atlanta’s inner city
– Promoting interaction among players, coaches and parents of divergent backgrounds in South and Northwest Atlanta
– Sharing resources to maximize advancement opportunities such as coaching clinics and player development programs
"It is important to the Metro Atlanta YMCA and Braves organizations that the same opportunities of learning and playing the game of baseball are given to the youth and their families living in the inner city," commented Re Pruitt, Group VP and Executive Director of the Carver YMCA. "Today, our children need opportunities to help them grow into productive and contributing adults. This can only be done when communities pool their resources together to make a greater impact on tomorrow's future leaders."
"This partnership is an opportunity for young people from all around the city to come together and share in the game of baseball while hopefully, developing long lasting ties and friendships for life," said Monteil Weeks, Executive Director of The Villages at Carver Family YMCA.
Stockton Croft, President of Buckhead Baseball, commented, “The game of baseball knows no social or economic boundaries. This partnership is an effort to leverage the common love of the sport to the betterment of both leagues, including our children, coaches, families and communities.”
