The 8U Buckhead Braves claimed a victory in the Gold Bracket of the Hobgood Baseball Bash on Sunday.  The Braves went 4-0 over the weekend giving away only 9 runs in 4 games.

Thursday night began with an 11-3 victory over Sharon Springs Silver.  The Braves’ bats lit up in the 3rd with 9 straight hits and no outs to be stopped by the 7 run limit.  The infield trio of Michael Mitchell, Henry Levenson and Manny Pargman led the Braves defensively.  While Harrison Gough and Sam Neal were hot on offense.

Saturday was a match up against the Kennesaw General Reds, which end in an 11-0 victory by the Braves.  Henry Levenson led our offense with 3 RBI(s), and Sam Neal had his 2nd in the park homer of the tournament in large part to some quality base running.  Offensively, Jack Landers was great at 3rd, Zach Hanson was busy at SS making good stops for solid outs, and Harrison Gough saw some action in left field to secure 3 outs

Sunday started off with a nail biter against the Sandy Springs Cougars.  The Cougars sprang to a quick 2-0 lead in the 1st with an out of the park HR.  Offensively, the Braves’ bats were quiet until the bottom of the 5th when they racked up 6 of their 7 runs.  The inning included two doubles by Zach Hanson and Nick McCarthy as well as a successful RBI bunt by Harrison Gough.  Defensively, Zach Hanson was a leader at SS, which helped the Braves out of the 6th inning.

The evening ended with a late start against the Eastside Titans.  The Braves’ bats lit up again in the 4th with 10 straight hits to score 7 runs.  Again, Zach Hanson saw much action at SS, which secured a majority of our outs for the game, and it led him to be name Braves’ MVP for the Tournament.

The action continues for the Braves’ this Thursday with a 7:30 start against the NYO Longhorns at the Dizzy Dean District Tournament.
